Located on the outskirts of Punta Arenas, the Magallanes National Reserve is a protected wilderness area of over 20,000 hectares that offers an immediate immersion into Patagonian flora and fauna. This trekking tour is an essential journey to connect with the austral nature, right where Ferdinand Magellan discovered the famous Strait.
🥾 The Route Through the Patagonian Forest
After pickup from your hotel, we will head to the Reserve via a scenic route that takes us to the base of the trail.
Scenic Access: We will travel along a four-kilometer road surrounded by the beauty of the dense Patagonian forest, preparing us for the walk.
Guided Trekking: We will begin an easy hike of approximately half an hour along well-maintained trails.
Local Flora and Fauna: During the walk, we will observe different endemic species of the austral flora, such as romerillo, lenga, and coigüe. We will also have the opportunity to spot local birds like goldfinches, caracaras, thrushes, and finches.
🏔️ Views of the Valley and the Strait
From the trail, you will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Río de las Minas valley as it flows towards the Strait of Magellan, offering a unique postcard of the city and the austral sea.
