Full-Day Tour: Mystical Chiloé, Castro Stilt Houses & Dalcahue
Puerto Montt
10 Horas

Description
Discover Chiloé, one of the most fascinating and authentic corners of Chile, where time seems to stand still amidst myths, legends, and centuries-old traditions. We invite you to immerse yourself in the richness of its living culture: an archipelago where the mystique of the sea, unique gastronomy, and heartwarming natural landscapes merge into an unforgettable experience.
During this comprehensive day tour, we will explore the famous palafitos (traditional wooden houses built on stilts over the water), historic wooden churches, and vibrant local markets that preserve the genuine Chilote identity.
Expedition Highlights:
Chacao Channel Navigation: We begin the journey with a scenic 30-minute ferry crossing. Keep your camera ready—this crossing is ideal for spotting a wide variety of marine birds and, with some luck, playful local dolphins (toninas).
The Charm of Chacao: Our first stop on the island will be this picturesque colonial village. We will stroll through its peaceful Main Square and visit its historic wooden church.
Castro & the Río Gamboa Stilt Houses: We venture into the provincial capital of Chiloé. Here, we will visit the imposing San Francisco Church (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and head to the viewpoint to capture the classic postcard scenery of the colorful Gamboa River stilt houses.
Coastal Tradition in Dalcahue: We continue our journey to Dalcahue, where we will take a relaxing walk along its beautiful waterfront facing pristine marine landscapes. We will explore its famous Artisan Market (renowned for woolen textiles and basketry), its local museum, and its iconic church that stands as a pillar of the island’s architectural heritage.
