Tierra del Fuego and King Penguin Park: Home of the Austral Giant Embark on a full-day expedition to cross the mythical Strait of Magellan and explore the legendary Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire). This adventure connects you with ancestral history and offers an encounter with the majestic King Penguin colony. ⛴️ Historic Crossing and Porvenir Our journey begins at 07:30 AM with pickup from your hotel in Punta Arenas. We will head to the pier to take the ferry that will transport us across the Strait of Magellan (approx. 2.5-hour navigation), landing in the Bahía Chilota sector. Historic Porvenir: Upon arrival in the city of Porvenir, we will visit the Fernando Cordero Museum. Here you can learn about the fascinating local fauna, archaeology, and the culture of the Selknam (Onas), the ancient inhabitants of this Magellanic territory. Pampa Crossing: After lunch (not included), we will begin a 114 km journey across the vast pampas, with the opportunity to spot diverse Fuegian wildlife. 🐧 King Penguin Park: The Southernmost Colony The highlight of the tour is the arrival at the King Penguin Park (Parque Pingüino Rey). Majestic Encounter: This park hosts a permanent colony of the impressive King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus), the second-largest species in the world (after the Emperor Penguin of Antarctica). You can observe and photograph them in their natural habitat, maintaining a safe distance for species conservation. 🚢 Return via Primera Angostura After the visit, we will return to the mainland via the narrowest point of the Strait: Primera Angostura (First Narrows). We will board the second ferry to cross and then begin the 200 km road trip back to Punta Arenas, concluding our austral expedition. The minimum number of passengers required to start the tour is 6.
