Description

Join our local experts on a fascinating expedition into the heart of the Andes Mountains. This high-altitude tour will take you to explore the most surreal and vibrant landscapes of the Chilean Altiplano, combining the observation of endemic wildlife, geological knowledge, and Atacameño cultural heritage in an unforgettable and safe journey. Highlights of our Expedition: Altiplano Village of Socaire: As we ascend, we will stop in this historic agricultural village. We will visit its traditional church and learn how its inhabitants keep alive ancestral terrace farming techniques. Los Flamencos National Reserve (Laguna Chaxa): We venture into the Atacama Salt Flat to marvel at Laguna Chaxa. Guided by our wildlife specialists, you will admire the elegance of the pink flamingos in their natural habitat, surrounded by an imposing landscape of salt crusts. Altiplano Lagoons (Miscanti and Miñiques): At over 4,000 meters above sea level, we'll discover these two jewels of crystal-clear, deep blue waters, nestled at the foot of majestic volcanoes. A pristine environment that will take your breath away. Red Rocks (Salar de Talar): Reaching 4,200 meters above sea level, we arrive at one of the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet. You'll learn about the geological phenomenon of oxidation and natural weathering that gives these rocks their intense reddish hues, contrasting dramatically with the emerald waters of the salt flat. Our Commitment to Your Safety: As this is a high-altitude route (reaching 4,200 meters above sea level), your well-being is our priority. You'll travel with professional drivers experienced in Andean routes and vehicles equipped with emergency oxygen. Recommendation: We suggest doing this excursion after a couple of days of acclimatization in San Pedro de Atacama, drinking plenty of water and walking at a slow pace.
