Your Itinerary: Our journey begins in the morning as we head north from La Serena along the Pan-American Highway. We’ll cross a striking semi-desert landscape dominated by cacti before reaching breathtaking coastal viewpoints. Along the way, you'll learn about the fascinating "Fog Catchers" (Atrapanieblas) at El Tofo—an innovative Chilean engineering system that captures the dense coastal fog to provide fresh water to the nearby village of Chungungo. After a 122 km (75 miles) drive, we will arrive at Caleta Los Choros, the gateway to the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve. Here, we board a boat to circumnavigate Gaviota and Choros islands. Keep your camera ready! The rocky shores are teeming with sea lions and seabirds, and we are frequently escorted by pods of bottlenose dolphins leaping and playing around our boat. We will then disembark on Isla Damas, famous for its spectacular white-sand beaches that contrast beautifully with the deep blue Pacific Ocean. After exploring this natural sanctuary, we return to the mainland for a well-deserved traditional seafood lunch. The day concludes with a scenic drive back to La Serena, accompanied by a spectacular sunset.
