Base Torres Trekking: Patagonia's Most Iconic Challenge Prepare yourself for Chile's most famous trekking experience. This demanding hiking tour takes you into the heart of the National Park to stand face-to-face with the three granite towers that give the park its name. 🥾 The Adventure Begins Our journey starts at 06:30 AM with pick-up from your hotel in Puerto Natales. We will travel by van to the Estancia Cerro Paine sector, the gateway to the trail. Ascencio Valley: After the first 10 minutes of walking, we will cross an old suspension bridge over the Ascencio River. From here, we take the fork to the left towards the Base of the Towers. 🌲 Forest Ascent and Windy Pass The Switchbacks: We will face a steep slope (known as the "Zig-Zag" or Windy Pass) for about an hour, offering spectacular views of the lakes and the valley. Chileno Refuge: We continue until we reach Camping Chileno, located on the opposite bank of the river. Here, we will hike under the pleasant shade of a Lenga (Beech) forest, crossing several streams flowing down from Mount Almirante Nieto. 🪨 The Moraine and The Final Viewpoint Approximately one hour after the forest (at 700 meters above sea level / 2,300 ft), we arrive at the foot of the Moraine, the most challenging section. The Final Push: The trail becomes steeper and turns into a climb among rocks, where we will follow the route markers. The Reward: Upon overcoming the moraine (approx. 45 min), we reach the eastern edge of the lagoon. The most impressive image will be revealed before your eyes: the three granite towers (Monzino, Central, and D'Agostini Towers) rising above the turquoise lagoon, flanked by the Peineta and Nido de Cóndores peaks. 🥪 Rest and Return We will enjoy our lunch (box lunch) in this natural amphitheater, unique on the planet. Finally, we will begin the return trek along the same path to the starting point, where our driver will be waiting to take us back to Puerto Natales at sunset. A physical challenge that rewards you with one of the most beautiful views in the world!
