Puerto Natales

About the Destination

Puerto Natales is a true southern jewel and the picturesque capital of the Última Esperanza Province. Although it retains the peaceful charm of a town of roughly 15,000 inhabitants, it has established itself as the undisputed epicenter of tourism in Chilean Patagonia. Nestled on the shores of the Señoret Channel and flanked by fjords and towering mountains, the city now boasts excellent signature cuisine and boutique hotels. It is the perfect base camp and essential gateway for those looking to explore the Eighth Wonder of the World: Torres del Paine National Park. Additionally, its pier is the starting point for boat trips to the majestic Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, and it is located just minutes away from the enigmatic Milodón Cave. 💡 Expert Tip: The famous Patagonian wind can catch you off guard at any time of the year, so the golden rule here is to dress in layers. If you have a free afternoon in town, we highly recommend walking along the waterfront (costanera) at sunset: the light hitting the water, the black-necked swans, and the distant snow-capped peaks offer an unmatched photography opportunity. To recharge, trying the traditional roasted lamb (cordero al palo) at a local ranch is an absolute must.
